Expat Divorce in Singapore
With the rise of globalisation, more married business and professional couples are living and working across multiple countries.
As a result, the traditional family model, in which all members reside in one country, is becoming less common. In Singapore, this often means that one spouse may live abroad, jointly own property in another country, or have business interests and other assets overseas.
International divorce cases may also involve one parent seeking to relocate abroad with their children. Every expat divorce case is unique and requires a tailored approach to address its specific circumstances.
Our Approach
Our beliefs centre around the following:
- Maintaining a client-focused approach that prioritises transparency, trust, and guidance through every stage of the divorce process.
- Providing cost-effective alternatives to courtroom litigation, such as mediation and the Collaborative Divorce Process.
- Conducting thorough research and preparation from the outset ensures a well-structured case strategy.
Jurisdiction for Divorce in Singapore
For expats, divorce in Singapore is only possible if they meet the three-year marriage requirement. This means they must have been married for at least three years, and either spouse must have resided in Singapore for at least three years before filing for divorce.
